フランス国王ルイ１４世時代の学者 ジョジョンが１６９５年に作った美しいアルファベットを学びます。 当時流行っていたこのスタイルの文字は、定規とコンパスを使って書きます。 その後、光と陰を組み合わせ、様々な方法で、大文字をページに面白く登場させます。本講座の後半ではビルトアップ・キャピタルの為に遠近法のユニークなルールを覚えます。 ラテン文字とギリシャ文字にも使える有効な手法です。 変わった角度からアルファベットとその背景の関係を考えて、作品をドラマティックに息づかせます。

The first lessons of this course focus on the beautiful alphabet designed by
Jacques Jaugeon in 1695, during the reign of Louis XIV of France.
These famous letters are drawn with a straight edge and compass
in order to achieve balance and beauty.
Next, the use of different methods for light and shade
will bring surprising elements that enliven the page.

The second part of this course is based on some unique rules of perspective adapted to Roman built-up capitals which are also used for the Greek alphabet. Letters seen from different angles and placed on contrasting backgrounds will impart a dramatic effect, breathing new life to your calligraphy work.

Applications: these letters have been in constant use since ancient times.
